The Poweshiek County Republican party has worked tirelessly to elect strong, conservative officials.


Annette Sweeney, Iowa Senate - (newly-drawn) District 27 

Annette is a second-term senator, elected in 2017. Annette is a home-raised business owner of Practical Promotions; operates family cattle operation; and former teacher.  Serving on the International Board of the State Agriculture and Rural Leaders Association. Recipient of the 2011 Herbert Hoover Uncommon Public Service Award and the Iowa Environmental Leader Award. Former executive director of Iowa Angus Association. Served on Ellsworth Community Ag Advisory Council, Hubbard-Radcliffe and South Hardin Vocational Ag Advisory Boards, Hardin County Extension Council, Iowa Women in Agriculture Board, and Iowa Soybean Ag-Urban Leadership Initiative. Named as “Friend of Farm Bureau.” Served on Congressman Tom Latham’s Ag Committee, a 4-H Leader, and Sunday school teacher.

Annette received B.S. in education in English, speech/drama with a minor in coaching at Concordia College LCMS, Seward, Nebraska. She resides in rural Buckeye, is married to Dave, and has two sons. 

 


Rep MaxwellDean Fisher, Iowa House - (newly-drawn) District 53

Dean was first elected to the Iowa House in 2012.  He is now serving his third term during the 2017/2018 General Assembly. Dean is a fifth-generation Iowa farmer, who lives on a Heritage Farm located four miles north of Montour, with his wife Vicki. After graduating from South Tama High School in 1975, Dean went to received a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering technology at DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago. Since returning to Iowa, Dean has been active in increasing levels of public service, serving as a Precinct Election Chairman, Township Clerk, Tama County Republican Party Chairman, board member of the Tama County Pioneer Cemetery Association, and has served in the Iowa House. Dean is a strong fiscal conservative and advocate of traditional social values. 


Missy Eilander

Missy Eilander, Poweshiek County Auditor

Missy is a lifelong Poweshiek County resident, growing up in Montezuma and graduated from Montezuma High School. She joined the Poweshiek County Auditor's Office in 2007 as Assistant Finance Director. She was elected Poweshiek County Auditor in 2016. She and her husband Mark live near Montezuma and have two daughters. 

 


Sandy Ross, Poweshiek County Treasurer

Sandy was elected in March 2013 special election. She is a lifelong resident of Poweshiek County and graduated from Montezuma    High School. She has been married to her husband Pete for 38 years. She has two sons and four grandchildren. Sandy lives in  Montezuma.  

 


Bart Klaver, Poweshiek County Attorney

Bart was elected Poweshiek County Attorney in 2018.

Dianna is the current Poweshiek County Recorder.

Jeff is a farmer from Montezuma serving on the Poweshiek County Board of Supervisors.
